Officer Meeting Minutes 9/24/13


  • SAO raised the club dues to $10 --> pay dues and get a T-shirt for free at next general meeting
  • Semesterly SAO meeting Wednesday 5:30-6:30, 7:00-8:00; Thursday evening
    • Two officers: Katie and Mark
  • Meeting with Doug delayed
  • Volunteer forms for Chapter for next meeting
  • Sign up members for volunteer database? -TBD after Mark talks with Doug
  • Game Day Recycling - walk around tailgates handing out recycling bags, $7/hr/person and free T-shirt and snacks! --> sign-up at general meeting
  • General Meeting Thursday 7 PM at Dooley Room
    • Blood Drive: Oct 14 & 18 (day before USC game) for competition

Officer meeting minutes 9/1/2013

1. Activities Night
Please wear the new club shirt if you're volunteering at the table.
Here's the link to the spreadsheet for signing people up.
Katy's picking up tablecloth and banners from chapter on Tuesday.
Setup from 6pm-7pm: Jaehyun (bringing laptop) and Katy
7pm-8pm shift: Daniel (bringing laptop) and Nestor
8pm-9pm shift: Michael Dinh (bringing laptop) and James
 
2. Meeting with Doug from Chapter
He'd like to talk with us about how we are going to be involved with the chapter this year (especially DAT, blood drives, international, volunteer opportunities). If we are able to get some more volunteer opportunities through the chapter, I think we'll be able to retain members better. 3. 1st General Meeting Presentation

I'd like each of you to make a slide or two about your role as an officer and anything else you'd like to say. You should have received an email with the presentation.

4. Blood Drive Competition vs. USC
To collect more blood than USC Red Cross Club for a traveling trophy. Possibly a week before USC game? More details to follow.

Last meeting of the year!

  • Talked to Jas at the Chapter: logo on the back needs to be updated

Five Guys
  • Check came in today: $45ish to us
  • $200ish to Red Cross
  • Next year: ask people to propose an event with the budget of $45

Meeting with Dr. Go
  • He suggested that we try to create a signature event of the Red Cross Club
  • Ideas?
    • Dodgeball tournament? or any sports/team tournaments
    • Attach it to a cause, maybe a different one each year
    • Hot chocolate/lemonade stands? Since they're easy to set up and immediately according to need
    • Pins


World Refugee Day with the Chapter this summer
  • In downtown South Bend
  • About two hours
  • Mayor is speaking
  • Three refugees and some volunteers telling their stories
  • Plaque to commemorate
  • Working with Refugee Coordinator at the Chapter
  • Food vendors, belly dancers, live dancers
  • Working on advertising to the community


Blood Drive yesterday
  • Huge success
  • Goal: 40something, Result: 77!
  • Thanks to all those who helped out!

April care packages have been sent out. Last package for our person is June.

Officer Meeting with Dr. Go


  • With stable membership, be more aggressive for membership growth next year
    • Signature event to increase awareness throughout campus/community
    • Etc.
  • Five Guys night: collected about $292.73, about 25% comes to us, ~73 dollars
    • Keep it for the Club
    • Next year: ask members what event to plan with $75
  • Chapter contact to be figured out with all the reorganization in the chapter: we need a chapter sponsorship to exist
